Using NetConnect

NetConnect runs as a service. In order to have it poll and interface with other systems on a continuous basis, the Synchronize NetConnect setting in Interface Options must be set to Y (Y=yes) and a user must have a Net•Yield session open on the desktop running the NetConnect service. This session would count towards one of the three sessions that are available to each user.

Configuring your system to run NetConnect Next Day Freight Services:

Note: The use of NetConnect requires that your system is running either SQL Server or SQL Express 2005 or higher and the SQL 2005 Management Tool. Neither of these applications are installed with Net•Yield. Contact your network administrator to install the version that best suits your needs.

Collapsed 1. Attach the NetConnect Database

Collapsed2. Set up a DSN to the NetConnect Database

Using NetConnect:

1. Select the NetConnect option from the Interface menu. If NetConnect has properly been configured as described above, and there is a properly connected interface to the next day carrier, the screen will display the status of the NetConnect processes being run. The process will restart based on the Processing Interval setting in Interface Options.

Note: If you receive a message looking for the location of your DSN or database, you most likely do not have the DSN specified correctly or do not have the database attached correctly as shown above.

See Using Interface Options for specifications of the interface between shipping systems and the Net•Yieldand the third party next day freight system.
